Read the latest magazine Industry News Lead Skills & Training Lead Training Keeping it Gold in Cornwall 3 November 2022 THE CITY and Guilds accredited Basic Lead Bossing and Welding course is perfect for slaters & tilers whether they are involved in new build or re-roofing. The course provides an excellent starting point for learning the most common and most essential skills required for lead working, bossing and welding. Luckily for his employees, Ross Golder, Managing Director of Gold Roofing Cornwall, thought so too. The South West Roofing Training Group (SWRTG)’s latest lead course, delivered in Exeter by RoofTrain Director, Alan Lander (pictured middle above), was a huge success. Enjoying the lead working course, Ross Golder was joined by no less than three members of his family: dad, Barry Golder; wife, Leonie Golder; and sister, Hannah Golder. Keeping it Gold While Barry is happy to take on more of an administration role for Gold Roofing Cornwall, Leonie and Hannah are happy working alongside Ross on site. Leonie and Hannah only joined Gold Roofing as trainee roofers a few years ago. Since then, both have flourished and have taken every opportunity to learn and develop the necessary skills to secure a long term future in roofing. Hannah, a keen photographer, has never looked back and even admits she doesn’t mind the cold weather. Leonie has no regrets about her move into roofing either. “I couldn’t envisage doing anything other than roofing, I really enjoy it,” Leonie said. Leonie Golder (right) and Hannah Golder (left). Trainer, Alan Lander, was impressed by the skill and attention to details shown: “There are so few females in construction so it was great to see these ladies given the chance to take up a career in such a male-dominated industry. And you know what? They did brilliantly and should be really proud of what they have achieved.” Roofing is definitely a family affair, as next month Ross’ brother, Jason, who has his own roofing company, and his partner Eva, are also due to take part in the same City and Guilds accredited Lead Welding Bossing course in Exeter. >> Read more of the latest news Previous article Firms Urged to Remember Part B Changes on Combustible Cladding in December 2022Next article Glidevale Protect Provides Complete Roofing Ventilation Solution for New Build Housing Development Share article You may also like View all News Industry News +2 20 March 2026 RA Issues Revised Safety Guidance on Rooflight Covers Awards and Events +3 20 March 2026 The Great British Slate Off Returns for 2026 Green Roofs +3 20 March 2026 Swansea Joins Global Network of Biophilic Cities Featured Solutions +3 19 March 2026 Flush Fitting Rooflights by Clement Sign Up to Roofing Today Stay up to date with all of the latest news from Roofing Today by signing up to our weekly Bulletins… Sign Up Today Get in Touch Check out the latest issue 123 March-April 2026 View Now Past Issues Get in Touch
