Read the latest magazine Industry News Latest Deadline for Transition to UKCA Marking Extended to 2025 9 December 2022 THE TRANSITION DEADLINE to UKCA marking from CE marks for construction products has been extended until 30 June 2025, the government has announced. The CE mark was recognised as an assurance that products had been tested as meeting expected standards under law across Europe. When the UK left Europe in 2016 the government said construction products placed on the UK market would have to have a UKCA mark. The government first passed legislation in March 2019 to introduce the compulsory UK Conformity Assessment (UKCA) for construction products on 1 January 2021. This deadline was extended to 1 January 2023. Now, the government says the “intention is to end recognition of the CE mark in GB on 30 June 2025.” Transition to UKCA Marking Current rules, which allow for continued recognition of the CE mark, will remain in place until new legislation is created. However, it remains possible to use the UK Conformity Assessment mark (UKCA mark), as long as businesses are using a UK approved body for testing and certification for all products supplied to the GB market which are covered by a designated standard or conform to a UK technical assessment which has been issued for that product. Only organisations on the UKMCAB database are approved bodies able to offer testing and certification. The United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) accredits UK approved bodies under the UK Construction Products Regulation 2011. The CE mark guidance only applies to England, Scotland and Wales. Northern Ireland has separate rules. See guidance on placing goods on the NI market here. There is also separate guidance for placing construction products goods on the European Union market. A summary of the actions required by operators wishing to supply construction products to the GB market and by UK based conformity assessment bodies replaces the previous guidance originally published ahead of Brexit. >>See more about UKCA marking in the news Previous article Lead Manufacturer Set to Reap Sustainable Rewards with Solar RoofsNext article Voting Opens for CUPA PIZARRAS ‘Best of the Best’ UK Champion 2022 Share article You may also like View all News Industry News +2 20 March 2026 RA Issues Revised Safety Guidance on Rooflight Covers Awards and Events +3 20 March 2026 The Great British Slate Off Returns for 2026 Green Roofs +3 20 March 2026 Swansea Joins Global Network of Biophilic Cities Featured Solutions +3 19 March 2026 Flush Fitting Rooflights by Clement Sign Up to Roofing Today Stay up to date with all of the latest news from Roofing Today by signing up to our weekly Bulletins… Sign Up Today Get in Touch Check out the latest issue 123 March-April 2026 View Now Past Issues Get in Touch
