Langley’s Government Approved Training Provider Gets First Top New Ofsted Grade in Construction

Langley’s Government Approved Training is the first construction provider in the country to achieve a top rating of strong across all five graded categories of the new Ofsted framework.

The top grading was awarded following an inspection of Langley’s training provision on 17 February 2026.

The inspection assessed Leadership and Governance, Inclusion, Participation and Development, Curriculum Teaching and Training, and Achievement. Langley received the Strong standard across all five areas. Safeguarding standards were also confirmed as met.

First Strong Construction Provider

Since the framework launched in November 2025, only around 17% of providers nationally have reached the Strong standard. Langley is the first construction provider to do so.

Inspectors noted that apprentices achieve very well, completing on time with a high proportion gaining distinction grades in end-point assessments. First time pass rates for functional skills qualifications are high, particularly in English.

Inspectors also highlighted the quality of teaching, the inclusive learning environment, and the strength of Langley’s partnerships with employers and industry stakeholders.

Industry bodies and partners including the NFRC, Travis Perkins, Islington Council, and Skills England spoke to inspectors during the process. The Leicester City Council partnership was specifically noted, with its structured induction programme recognised for removing barriers to learning and building apprentice confidence early.

Our tutors bring decades of real industry experience into the training room and our learners leave with more than a qualification. They leave understanding why the work matters and what the consequences are if it isn’t done properly. That’s what we’re here to build.”

Langley’s training provision covers apprenticeships at Level 2 in roofing, NVQs for experienced workers, and internal and contractor-facing training programmes, based at the Langley Training Academy in Daventry. The centre operates on a block release model, with learners completing intensive training weeks alongside on-site employer placements.
