Read the latest magazine Industry News Insulation Home Insulation Sales Soar During Isolation 24 March 2020 SALES OF HOME insulation have soared according to a group of independent builders merchants as home owners look to make use of their time in isolation. The information comes from The Independent Builders Merchant Group (IBMG) that includes Chandlers Roofing Suppliers, Fairalls, Stamco Timber and Parker Building Supplies. Speaking for the builders merchant group, Sue McKinney said: “It would appear from our data and customer activity online that as the nation settles into a new normal of staying at home, people are preparing to undertake home and garden projects that may have been on the back burner.” Internet survey An online poll conducted by the group revealed that just over 30 percent are preparing internal projects with half of these saying this will be installing insulation – “probably because it is an inside job,” said Sue McKinney of IBMG. While the Easter break is a traditional time for home and garden improvements, the result of its poll suggests that, insulation is on the increase. Around 60 percent are planning patio, driveway and gardening projects, which is allowed under current guidelines. Delivery The IBMG is also reporting increased demand for home delivery. Most orders online or by phone are being delivered directly to the customer. Sue said: “The growth of YouTube and its instructional videos on how to do pretty much everything will no doubt help people tackle some of these projects. “Nevertheless, if there is a project you need advice on just give us a call or email us. We are more than happy to help and share our knowledge.” The IBMG said that during this difficult time they are at the end of the phone to provide advice to anyone on building, insulation garden and DIY projects. The group has put in place a number of measures in light of Covid 19 to include drivers keeping a minimum distance of two metres from others. Signatures as proof of delivery will not be required.
