Guide to Products Critical to Safe Construction Published

THE GUIDE to Products Critical to Safe Construction provides designers, specifiers, and installers with the information they need to make informed decisions about construction products.

Its aim is to contribute towards achieving safe construction and includes examples and case studies to signpost industry best practice, such as the Code for Construction Product Information.

There are sections dedicated to the whole construction cycle, from responsibilities of those involved through to procurement and identification of products. This is followed through the supply chain, concluding with sign off and life cycle, as well as competence.

In her Foreword, Amanda Long, the Chief Executive for the Code for Construction Product Information, said, “For anyone involved in the design, specification, procurement and construction of buildings, selecting the right products and systems can be daunting. But the importance of correct specification and installation cannot be overstated; particularly for those products that are critical to safe construction.

“Whilst the guide has been developed against the backdrop of an emerging regulatory regime for construction products, its purpose is to support industry to act now to help ensure that buildings are safe for those who use them, now and in the future.”

The guide was published in collaboration with the Construction Products Association, Code for Construction Product Information, Institution of Structural Engineers and the Royal Institute of British Architects.
