Green Roof Organisation Board Appoints New Chairperson

THE GREEN ROOF ORGANISATION has elected a new Chairperson to lead its board.

The trade association promoting green roofs, blue roofs and bio-solar roofing in the UK has appointed Giles Doland, Sales Director at ZinCo Green Roof Systems Ltd as the new Chair.

Chris Bridgman director of Bridgman & Bridgman is Vice Chair and former Chair, Mark Harris takes up the new Secretary position.

The Green Roof Organisation (GRO) board has 12 members from companies and educational organisations in the sector. The members elect members to fill the three offices every three years.

Since establishing in 2008, GRO masterminded the first GRO Green Roof Code of Best Practice for the UK in 2009 – which was last updated in 2021. GRO also offers technical and specification advice.

The organisation has also been central to publicizing World Green Roof Day which takes place on 6 June every year. Active on social media, roofing companies post pictures of their green and blue roof projects with the hashtag #WGRD.
