Since its establishment in 2001, the company has evolved into a trusted partner for building surveyors, architects, contractors and asset owners, supporting projects across education, healthcare, commercial and public sector estates nationwide. Reflecting on the journey, Founder and Managing Director Tim Jones said, “When I think back to those early days, it’s incredible to see how far we’ve come. Garland UK today is a national organisation with an outstanding team and thousands of successful projects behind it, but the principles that built the company are exactly the same.” 25-Years of Service-Led Roofing Excellence Garland UK was founded to capitalise on a clear opportunity to introduce a more technically led, service-driven approach to roofing. Having previously worked with Garland in Canada, Tim Jones returned to the UK before being approached to establish the business domestically. “Garland had given me an opportunity earlier in my career that changed my life. So when the chance came to build Garland UK and create those same opportunities for others, it felt like something special,” explained Tim. At a time when specification-led roofing support was less prevalent, Garland UK focused on delivering long-term waterproofing solutions supported by expert technical advice and ongoing client partnership. This approach quickly differentiated the business within a competitive market. The company’s early days were modest, operating from a small warehouse with limited resources but a strong commitment to building relationships and delivering quality outcomes. “I painted the building myself. I laid the carpet myself. When the first delivery of roofing materials arrived, we didn’t even have a forklift, so we unloaded the truck by hand,” said Tim. Through close collaboration with building surveyors, architects and contractors, Garland UK established trust by consistently delivering technical support and reliable project outcomes. Early stage projects laid the foundation for long-term partnerships that continue to define the business today. Expanded Offering Over the past 25 years, Garland UK has expanded its offering to provide a comprehensive range of roofing and building envelope systems, including bituminous membranes, cold-applied liquid waterproofing, metal roofing, green roof technologies and integrated solar PV solutions. These systems are delivered as part of a fully supported service model, combining design expertise, quality materials and installation oversight to ensure long-term performance. Central to this approach is Garland UK’s single point of contact model, where each project is supported by a dedicated technical manager from initial survey through to completion and ongoing maintenance. This ensures accountability, consistency and quality across every stage of delivery. “We’ve always believed that the real value of a roofing system isn’t measured on the day it’s installed. It’s measured over decades of performance,” said Tim. Employee-Owned A defining characteristic of Garland UK is its employee-owned structure, as part of Garland Industries in the United States. This model reinforces a culture of accountability and pride in delivery, with employees directly invested in the long-term success of the business. “When people feel genuine ownership in what they do, something powerful happens. They take pride in their work, they support one another, and they focus on doing the right thing for the customer,” explained Tim. This culture has contributed to the development of a highly experienced team, with many employees building long-term careers within the organisation. Tim continued, “One of the most rewarding parts of this journey has been seeing people grow in confidence, develop their careers and create opportunities for their families. That’s something we’re incredibly proud of.” Today, Garland UK continues to support a wide range of sectors, delivering technically robust roofing systems designed to protect building assets over the long term. Across all projects, the focus remains on providing dependable advice, high-quality solutions and ongoing support aligned with the needs of building owners and asset managers. “Behind every project is the same service-led model that defined the company in its early years. Our goal has always been to do the job properly, to support clients with honest technical advice, design systems that outlast their guarantees, and deliver service people can rely on,” said Tim. Looking to the Future As the business looks ahead, Garland UK is continuing to expand its capabilities, particularly in sustainable roofing and integrated building envelope solutions, supporting clients in meeting evolving performance and environmental requirements. For Tim Jones, however, the company’s success remains rooted in its people and partnerships: “When I look back over the last 25 years, what stands out most isn’t the projects or the growth, it’s the people. The surveyors, contractors and partners who trust us with their buildings. The colleagues who joined us when the company was still finding its feet. The technical managers who represent Garland across the UK and our outstanding support team at head office.” He concludes, “If the past 25 years have taught us anything, it’s that when you build a business around people, service and accountability, the future takes care of itself.” >> Read more about Garland UK in the news Previous article LCA Urges Industry to Respond to CLAW Regs Consultation Before DeadlineNext article Breathe Freely Roofer Fact Sheet Share article You may also like View all News Featured Companies +3 13 April 2026 A Proctor Group Welcomes New Director Featured Companies +3 2 April 2026 Glidevale Protect Welcomes Launch of the Future Homes Standard Featured Companies +3 2 April 2026 SFS Strengthens Product Clarity and Compliance under CCPI Check out the latest issue 123 March-April 2026 View Now Past Issues Get in Touch Sign Up to Roofing Today Stay up to date with all of the latest news from Roofing Today by signing up to our weekly Bulletins… Sign Up Today Get in Touch
