Local businesses and organisations are being invited to a free event to learn about future supply chain opportunities linked to the construction of a new hospital in Crewe.

The event is being hosted by Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (MCHFT) and will take place at Crewe Alexandra FC on Tuesday 29 September 2026, from 8am to 12pm.

Attendees will hear about the Healthier Futures programme, plans for the hospital, and how local businesses can prepare for future opportunities to work with the programme.

The new Leighton Hospital is being built by Integrated Health Projects – a joint venture between Sir Robert McAlpine and Vinci – and is one of the biggest investments in Crewe for many years.

As well as creating a modern hospital for patients, staff and local communities, the Trust wants to help local businesses benefit from the project where possible.

Local Opportunities

During the event, visitors can:

    • Learn more about the new Leighton Hospital and the Healthier Futures programme
    • Meet members of the programme and construction teams
    • Find out about future supply chain opportunities

    • Learn about skills, training and apprenticeship opportunities
    • Understand the importance of social value and community benefits

Russ Favager, Senior Responsible Officer for the Leighton New Hospital Programme at MCHFT, said: “The new Leighton Hospital is about much more than bricks and mortar. It is a once in a generation opportunity to create a modern health and care environment for our communities, while also making sure the benefits of this investment are felt locally.

“We know there is a wealth of skill, expertise and ambition across Crewe, Cheshire, and the surrounding area. This event is about opening the door early, helping local businesses understand the programme, and giving them practical information so they can prepare for future opportunities.

“Supporting local economic growth, skills and social value is an important part of our Healthier Futures ambition. We want to work with our partners to ensure local suppliers, SMEs and social enterprises are well informed, connected and ready to engage as the programme progresses.”
