Fire Breaks Out at Northampton Roofing Merchant

A FIERCE blaze broke out on Friday evening at the premises of Steadfast Roofing Merchants in Woolaston near Wellingborough.

Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service said they were called to what they described as a ‘major fire’ just after 9pm on Friday 22 July.

Crews from Northampton, Wellingborough, Earls Barton, Rushden, Burton Latimer, as well as specialist teams from Corby and Towcester were called to tackle the fire in Doddington Road.

Crews remained at the scene overnight and urged people to avoid the area. People living nearby were warned to keep their doors and windows shut.

The company, which started in 1998, employs 18 people and has two other branches in Cambridge and Milton Keynes.
