Read the latest magazine Industry News Extension to Recognition of CE Marking 2 September 2024 TODAY, Rushanara Ali, the Parliamentary Under Secretary for Building Safety and Homelessness has made a statement regarding construction products. The statement announces an extension beyond 30 June 2025 of the recognition of CE marking for construction products in Great Britain. CE Marking Extension Because the Government says it wants to take into account any recommendations from the forthcoming Grenfell Inquiry report to inform proposals for reform, the extension, and the longer-term future of CE/UKCA marking, is conditional on a system-wide reform of the construction products regulatory regime. In summary this means that: CE marking will be accepted past 30 June 2025 for construction products. The Government is likely to instigate a system-wide reform of construction product regulations. UKCA marking will remain a valid and accepted regulatory mark. The Government will explore the long-term future of CE/UKCA marking as part of this regulatory reform. Any subsequent changes to the recognition of CE marking would be subject to a minimum 2-year transitional period. The Government will engage with UK Conformity Assessment Bodies, the UK Accreditation Service, and the wider industry to strengthen the conformity assessment market. The Statement also makes announcements introducing Personal Emergency Evacuation Plans, or PEEPs for vulnerable and disabled residents in high rises and higher risk buildings. Additionally, sprinklers in new care homes will be mandatory in six months’ time. The statement also announces the withdrawal of National Classes for fire testing standards, ending a long period of dual specification in favour of the more robust European standard. This action was first recommended in the Building a Safer Future review by Dame Judith Hackitt in May 2018. >> Read more about CE/UKCA marking in the news Previous article Timber Merchant Supports Roof Slating and Tiling ApprenticesNext article Sprinklers: Back to Basics Share article You may also like View all News Industry News +2 20 March 2026 RA Issues Revised Safety Guidance on Rooflight Covers Awards and Events +3 20 March 2026 The Great British Slate Off Returns for 2026 Green Roofs +3 20 March 2026 Swansea Joins Global Network of Biophilic Cities Featured Solutions +3 19 March 2026 Flush Fitting Rooflights by Clement Sign Up to Roofing Today Stay up to date with all of the latest news from Roofing Today by signing up to our weekly Bulletins… Sign Up Today Get in Touch Check out the latest issue 123 March-April 2026 View Now Past Issues Get in Touch
