Engineering Inspection Framework

EIGHT SUPPLIERS have been awarded a place on a new engineering inspection framework, worth £5million, for public sector organisations across England and Wales.

Engineering Inspection Services (EIS1) includes eight workstreams for public bodies to access pre-approved suppliers. The firms will assess equipment and systems across social homes, high and low rise blocks, sheltered housing, office buildings, leisure centres, plant rooms and other assets.

Delivered by public sector procurement specialist LHC, EIS1 is a new framework established in partnership with Southwark Council and designed to meet the requirements of health and safety statue and related regulations, including the Health and Safety at Work Act.

Its workstreams cover: lifting equipment; electrical equipment; power press and associated machinery and mechanical systems; pressure plant and systems; local exhaust ventilation; fall protection testing and inspection; playground and playground equipment; and multi-discipline inspection services.

Dean Fazackerley, Head of Technical Procurement at LHC, said: “This new framework has been designed so we can offer our clients a very high standard of service, provide them with flexibility of options for different assets, and enable them to meet their insurance and health and safety inspection requirements.

“We also want to provide the foundations for positive and constructive client-supplier relationships that ensures the safe operation of assets, minimise risks to the public, ensure quality and provide legal compliance.

“Bidders to the framework were evaluated based on scenarios reflecting actual operational conditions that clients will encounter, to ensure all risks were addressed and their service would be fit for purpose. The scenarios tested their customer service awareness and sensitivity to differing needs and situations.”

Any organisation bound to procure under PCR2015 can access this framework.

The appointed companies are:

  • Ashdale Engineering UK
  • Bath Property Maintenance
  • British Engineering Services
  • Bureau Veritas UK
  • HSB Engineering Insurance Services
  • MAND (PLS)
  • Plansafe Solutions
  • VT Inspections

The framework will run for four years from 7 September 2021.
