The investment in 11 Linde Material Handling (UK) X-range forklifts represents a powerful commitment to carbon reduction by Russell Roof Tiles. The manufacturer is a major UK supplier of concrete roof tiles and UPVC accessories to key housebuilders, social housing and commercial projects. Linde MH’s ‘X Range’ trucks feature advanced battery technology offering extended operating times and rapid charging capabilities as well as the latest safety features. After six months of emissions-free operation the forklifts have demonstrated their exceptional performance and robustness, qualities that held strong appeal for Russell Roof Tiles. Comfort and ease of use were other important factors in the drive for greater efficiency and productivity across its sites. The gains from lithium-ion battery operation are especially seen later in a truck’s life. It means that there are fewer moving parts and no internal combustion engine to maintain. Electric Forklifts Bruce Laidlaw, Russell Roof Tile’s Operations Director, said: “The feedback from our Lockerbie and Burton sites has been very positive. “The ergonomics, the lower noise levels when operating, the added new features within the trucks and the specification required from Russell Roof Tiles have all been well accepted by the drivers.” Andy Iliff, Assistant Production Manager at the Burton site, added: “The new Linde X series lithium-ion forklifts are really good trucks to operate. “Our drivers are now used to the electric charging methods and actually prefer to use these new electric trucks rather than the diesel alternatives.” >> Read more about Russell Roof Tiles in the news Previous article Construction Accounts for 12% of UK Business Failures in 2023Next article SME Homebuilders Call for End to Planning Uncertainty Share article You may also like View all News Industry News +2 20 March 2026 RA Issues Revised Safety Guidance on Rooflight Covers Awards and Events +3 20 March 2026 The Great British Slate Off Returns for 2026 Green Roofs +3 20 March 2026 Swansea Joins Global Network of Biophilic Cities Featured Solutions +3 19 March 2026 Flush Fitting Rooflights by Clement Sign Up to Roofing Today Stay up to date with all of the latest news from Roofing Today by signing up to our weekly Bulletins… Sign Up Today Get in Touch Check out the latest issue 123 March-April 2026 View Now Past Issues Get in Touch
