Talented tradespeople from across the UK and Ireland can apply now, to be in with the chance of being crowned an ultimate champion of the trade. Now in its 14th year, the annual award celebrates the work of tradespeople – from roofers to plumbers, builders to painters, and carpenters to electricians. The awards highlight their professionalism and dedication to promoting the industry. Applying is simple – tradespeople can put themselves forward, or can be nominated. Employers, customers or friends can fill out the online application form – or in Ireland complete the form here. The best applicants will be shortlisted to take part in a semi-final interview in August, with the top 10 progressing through to the Screwfix Top Tradesperson final. The final will take place at Screwfix LIVE in Farnborough on Friday 22 September. A panel of industry experts will put the finalists through their paces before announcing the champion. The Screwfix Top Tradesperson 2023 will walk away with an incredible trade bundle worth £20,000/€20,000! The bundle will include everything a champion of the trade needs – tech, tools, and training to take their already successful career to the next level. Roofer, Darren McGhee was crowned Screwfix’s Top Tradesperson in 2019 when he impressed judges with his passion and commitment to the roofing industry. Darren continues growing his very successful company, DMG Services Group Ltd in Bellshill near Glasgow, last year launching a dedicated roof training centre for roofing apprenticeships. Darren since returned to the competition as a judge. Reigning Champion Toby Peacock, an electrician from Cambridge, is the reigning champion after winning Screwfix Top Tradesperson in 2022. He said: “This award has transformed my career. I have driven my business forward and the prize has meant I have been able to invest in new equipment and training opportunities. My application also shone a light on mental health in the industry, which I had personally experienced in my own career. Since winning the competition I have launched my own podcast ‘Tearoom Talks Podcast’, which focuses on how we can improve mental health in the trade. “The entire process of the competition was great, from meeting the other inspirational finalists through to the interviews where I got to display my passion for the trade, there’s nothing quite like Screwfix Top Tradesperson.” Tradespeople have until Sunday 16th July to submit their application. UK entrants can apply here, or Ireland entrants can apply here. >> Read more of the latest news Previous article HSE Begins Inspections Targeting Silica in ManufacturingNext article Band of Builders Work Allows Man to go Home Three Years after Brain Aneurysm Share article You may also like View all News Awards and Events +3 20 March 2026 The Great British Slate Off Returns for 2026 Awards and Events +3 19 March 2026 Six Weeks Left to Enter the 2026 SPRA Awards Awards and Events +2 17 March 2026 UK Roofing Awards 2026 Finalists Announced Awards and Events +3 16 March 2026 Rooflight Association Official Partner of UK Construction Week 2026 Sign Up to Roofing Today Stay up to date with all of the latest news from Roofing Today by signing up to our weekly Bulletins… Sign Up Today Get in Touch Check out the latest issue 123 March-April 2026 View Now Past Issues Get in Touch
