Control of Lead at Work Regs Consultation Extended Until End of Week

3 June 2026

The Health and Safety Executive has extended the deadline for responses to the Control of Lead at Work Regulations 2022 (CLAW) until the end of the week.

The consultation is open for comment from employers and those directly involved in sectors that use lead until 7 June 2026.

HSE is seeking stakeholder views on proposals relating to:

  • monitoring and lowering the blood lead exposure levels in CLAW
  • amending the Approved Code of Practice (ACOP) and guidance

It is also taking the opportunity to gather evidence on ‘lead in air’ monitoring.

In April, the Lead Contractors Association called on all sectors of the roofing industry to engage with the consultation, warning that the proposed changes – if implemented without sufficient industry input – could have unintended and far-reaching consequences.

How to Take Part

The full consultation document, with detailed proposals, background information and how to respond, is available on the HSE website.
