Read the latest magazine Industry News Mental Health Construction Giant Dubs Today ‘Blue Monday’ 21 January 2019 TODAY (21 January 2019) has been dubbed ‘Blue Monday’- “the most depressing day of the year”. The day is a further reminder of the issue of mental well-being in the wake of the festive period. However, whilst statistics suggest that this particular day is common for people tapping into mental health services, it’s important that we don’t simply jump on a sporadic bandwagon when it comes to keeping an eye on the mental well-being of ourselves, and our friends and family. Depression, stress and anxiety do not have a favourite day. ‘Blue Monday’ The UK construction industry has some of the highest suicide and depression rates across all sectors. However, the industry has recently made massive steps in the support it provides to its workers with the introduction of Willmott Dixon’s All Safe Minds initiative. The message has spread quickly and results are now being seen, with more companies choosing to train Mental Health First Aiders as a matter of course, and ever-increasing reports of people coming forward to ask for support.
