Read the latest magazine Industry News Roof Tiles Concrete Roof Tiles Production, Deliveries and Sales Remain at Post-Pandemic Low 3 August 2022 THE PRODUCTION, deliveries and stocks of concrete roof tiles continue at the low levels seen since 2020, according to the latest figures from the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy for July 2022. Concrete roof tile production fell in Quarter 2 this year to 3,783,567 of 1,000m2 of roof covered, down from the previous quarter figure of 4,142,663 of 1,000m2 of roof covered, which is a decrease of -8.6%. Meanwhile concrete tile deliveries achieved 3,868,489 of 1,000m2 of roof covered in Q2, compared to Q1’s 3,989,840, a slight fall of -3%. Stocks of concrete roof tiles also remain at their reduced post-2020 levels, falling from 1,861,652 in Q122 to 1,756,024 of 1,000m2 of roof covered in the current quarter, a decline of -5.6%. Construction Material Prices Meanwhile, construction material prices rose in June 2022 for all work by 26.4% compared to the same month the previous year. The three largest price increases were for concrete reinforcing bars (58.2%), fabricated structural steel (48.3%), and pre-cast concrete products (28.3%). Production of cement and clinker fell by 11.4% in the last reporting period of 2020, while sales of sand & gravel decreased by 4.1% in Quarter 2 2022 on the previous Quarter. There was an 8.0% decrease in brick deliveries in June 2022 compared to June 2021 and a 10.4% decrease in concrete block deliveries in June 2022 compared to June 2021.
