CIOB and NFRC Launch New Roofing Chartered Membership Programme

THE CHARTERED Institute of Building (CIOB), in collaboration with the National Federation of Roofing Contractors (NFRC), has launched a dedicated route for experienced roofing professionals to achieve Chartered status (MCIOB).

The Roofing Chartered Membership Programme (CMP) provides a tailored pathway to professional recognition through the CIOB. The programme is designed for individuals with at least five years’ experience in roofing who manage people, processes, or projects, offering the opportunity to gain professional accreditation of their skills, knowledge and leadership within the industry.

The Roofing CMP is part of CIOB’s growing range of sector-specific Chartered Membership Programmes. Under the banner “Pathway to Professionalism”, the course supports participants in achieving MCIOB status, demonstrating competence, integrity, and education to a high standard.

Programmes such as the new Roofing CMP are becoming increasingly important as proof of competency requirements under the Building Safety Act 2022 (BSA) come into force.

Chartered membership of CIOB provides professionals with access to a worldwide network of industry experts, continuous professional development opportunities, and enhanced career prospects. MCIOB members are recognised as trusted leaders committed to upholding the highest standards in construction management.

CIOB says the Roofing CMP combines its expertise in professional education with NFRC’s deep understanding of the roofing industry. The collaboration ensures the course is fully aligned with the needs of modern roofing professionals and the demands of today’s construction landscape.

Adrian Montague, Director of CIOB Academy, said: “We are delighted to be working with NFRC to open up this new pathway for roofing professionals. The Roofing CMP reflects CIOB’s mission to support all areas of the built environment in achieving excellence and professionalism. Through this initiative, experienced roofing specialists can now gain Chartered recognition for the vital role they play in delivering quality and safety across the sector.”

James Talman, CEO of NFRC, added: “This collaboration with CIOB gives our members a unique opportunity to gain Chartered status through a programme designed specifically for their expertise. It’s a significant step forward in recognising roofing as a professional discipline in its own right.”
