Read the latest magazine Health & Safety Industry News Working at Height Builder Dies After Falling Through Skylight 1 October 2025 A BUILDER has died from critical injuries after falling through a skylight while fixing the roof of a children’s play centre. David Linyard, 60, was rushed to hospital after falling through the roof of the Play2Day centre in Martlesham Heath, near Ipsiwch, Suffolk, while carrying out routine roof maintenance on 23 June 2025. He died of his injuries nearly three weeks later on 11 July. Skylight Fall News of David’s tragic death was revealed today by Britpark Leisure Ltd which runs the Play2Day centre. In a statement, Britpark Leisure Ltd said: “We were informed by the family of Mr David Linyard that he had tragically died of injuries sustained in an accident whilst carrying out routine maintenance on the roof of our Play2Day children’s play centre at Martlesham Heath, Ipswich. “Our thoughts and deepest sympathies continue to be with his friends and family.” Play2Day reopened for business after the accident but has since temporarily closed again to facilitate more maintenance work. Britpark Leisure’s Manging Director Ian Parkinson says the company is “working closely with the local authority to ensure that remediation works are carried out in compliance with all relevant regulations and standards”.
