BoB and V12 Put Best Boot Forward in New Partnership

NATIONAL CONSTRUCTION CHARITY, Band of Builders, has added another major brand to its list of supporters, with construction footwear specialist, V12 Footwear, announcing it is backing BoB.

V12, a respected brand of safety footwear in the construction industry, has announced plans to support the charity – with an exciting project in the pipeline set to be announced next month.

The company is the latest major name in the sector to pledge its support for Band of Builders, which helps members of the construction industry affected by illness or injury. As well as carrying out practical projects, the charity provides a supportive online community as well as various other initiatives.

V12, a brand known for its quality and comfort, has confirmed it plans to back the charity, raising funds so it can help more people.

Managing Director Andy Turner said: “We feel humbled and privileged to be involved in a support program for Band of Builders.

“From the moment I heard of the charity, I knew we should throw all we could at it to support such a great cause.”

The company has yet to announce its fundraising campaigns, but has an exciting project in the pipeline to back BoB.

The support from V12 follows backing from several major brands within the construction industry. Earlier this year BoB announced a partnership with tool giant DeWalt and has also been selected as the chosen charity for builders’ merchants Jewson and Gibbs and Dandy.

Together Stronger

Tony Steel, Operations Director at Band of Builders, said: “To receive backing from a company like V12 is another great development for Band of Builders. They’ve got some exciting plans that we know will not only raise funds for the charity, but will be really engaging for both our members and supporters.

“Our motto at BoB has always been ‘TogetherStronger’ and V12 really get that – coming together with us to help us achieve even more and help more people.”

Initially formed in 2016 and awarded registered charity status in 2019, Band of Builders has completed a raft of projects to help members of the trade and their families through the completion of practical projects.

Previous projects included the installation of a specialised bathroom for an electrician’s daughter suffering from a rare skin condition, landscaping a garden for builder Jamie Thompson, who is suffering from Motor Neurone Disease and finishing renovations at the home of Elaine Dunphy, whose husband Steve died of cancer before he could finish the work he had started.

Despite the coronavirus pandemic BoB completed three projects in 2020 and another earlier this year to help Rob Lamb, who was left paralysed after a fall at home. Projects in 2020 included:

• Providing a wheelchair ramp to help 11-year-old plasterer’s son James Dodd, who suffers from a rare disease called Mitochondrial Disease.
• Building a wet room for Ronnie Macleod who was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND) in June 2018.
• Landscaping the driveway and pathway at the home of Chris Joy, a plasterer who was diagnosed in 2018 aged 40 with Cerebellar Ataxia, a rare condition which only affects 10,000 people in the UK, so he can access his house more easily.
