Read the latest magazine Apprenticeships Awards and Events Industry News Skills & Training BMI Apprentice of the Year 2025 Winners Crowned 25 July 2025 THE WINNERS of BMI Apprentice of the Year 2025 have been crowned following an intense two days of competition at the BMI Academy in Gloucestershire on 23-24 July. The winners each received a £1000 cash prize and three year’s worth of free training at the BMI Academy. BMI Apprentice of the Year 2025 Winners Harrison Davies, employed by A1 Bespoke LTD and an apprentice at Bolton College, was crowned winner of BMI Redland Apprentice of the Year for Pitched Roofing. Meanwhile, Marcus Conlan of Faskin Group and CITB took home the top award for BMI Icopal Apprentice of the Year for Flat Roofing. Now in its eighth year, the contest is designed to give roofing apprentices the chance to show off their skills and passion for the industry. Highly Commended Alongside the winners of this year’s competition, two apprentices received the Highly Commended award from the judges, reflecting the high standards of this year’s final. Taking home the Highly Commended awards were Nathan Binnall, training at Redcar and Cleveland College and employed by Samuel Moore Roofing, for the pitched category and Harry Crawford from Protech Roofing and an apprentice at SIMIAN, for the flat category. (L-R) Nathan Binnall, Highly Commended in Pitched Roofing, and Harry Crawford, Highly Commended in Flat Roofing Alongside the hands-on competition, apprentices heard from industry speakers including Fraser Biles, Managing Director, and Matthew Sexton, Technical and Compliance Director at BMI UK & Ireland; Hayley Reynolds, Construction Director at Itech Roofworks; and Jamie Taylor, Managing Director at Taylor Roofs. Presentations covered advice on presentation skills, the Building Safety Act, career progression and project case studies. Speaking at the awards ceremony, Fraser Biles said: “We’ve had another brilliant year for the Apprentice of the Year awards. The standard of entries was exceptional and everyone who made it to the Academy should be extremely proud of their achievement. “It’s incredibly encouraging to see such enthusiasm and commitment from the next generation of roofing professionals. Their passion for the trade was evident throughout.” Both winners received a cash prize of £1,000, 3 years’ complimentary access to further BMI training courses to support their ongoing development, and all finalists received tools donated by SIG Roofing. Harrison Davies, from Bolton College and A1 Bespoke, winner of the BMI Redland Apprentice of the Year award, said: “Just being named a finalist was an honour, so to win is honestly unbelievable! The standard of competition was incredibly high, and I’ve come away having learnt so much.” BMI Apprentice of the Year 2025 finalists, tutors and judges.
