Completed in October 2024, the development comprises four new homes, featuring barn-style designs that reflect the site’s historic farmyard origins. With two five-bedroom and two four-bedroom homes, the development has been designed to reflect Rutland’s vernacular on the outside, but inside, they are light-filled living spaces finished to a high specification. Each dwelling features luxury kitchens and bathrooms, many en-suite bedrooms with walk in dressing rooms, and includes air-source heat pumps, car charging points, and electronic remote-controlled garage door access. New Rural Village Development Hereward Homes selected Sandall Roofing, based in Bourne, as the specialist roofing contractor on the project. Their chosen roofing supplier was AccuRoof, part of SIG UK Roofing, who provided both SIGA 13s Slate and SR Timber PREMIUM GOLD Roofing Batten to support it. The SIG Roofing branch in Newark, which is closest to the site, delivered the 10,840 linear meters of PREMIUM GOLD Roofing Battens to site for the pitched roofing areas of the project. The batten meets the specifications outlined in BS 8417:2011+A1:2014 (preservation of timber) and is graded according to BS 5534:2014+A2:2018. Additionally, it is one of the few battens that has passed assessment by the Code for Construction Product Information (CCPI). The batten provided support for the 41,000 SIGA13S 500x250mm slates, which were used on the project. Sourced from Northern Spain the slates are 5mm in depth and are smooth dark blue/grey slate offering a rustic character. SIG Roofing also provided 160kg of copper nails, 587 Marley clay capped angle ridges and a dry ridge fixing pack, Fix-R GRP slate valleys and Klober slate vents to complete the job. >> Read more about SR Timber in the news Previous article From Building Site to Spotlight: Screwfix Top Tradesperson 2025 Entries OpenNext article Green Plan in Action for Hospital Refurbishment Share article You may also like View all News Industry News +2 20 March 2026 RA Issues Revised Safety Guidance on Rooflight Covers Awards and Events +3 20 March 2026 The Great British Slate Off Returns for 2026 Green Roofs +3 20 March 2026 Swansea Joins Global Network of Biophilic Cities Featured Solutions +3 19 March 2026 Flush Fitting Rooflights by Clement Sign Up to Roofing Today Stay up to date with all of the latest news from Roofing Today by signing up to our weekly Bulletins… Sign Up Today Get in Touch Check out the latest issue 123 March-April 2026 View Now Past Issues Get in Touch
