The roof was one of the project’s most significant and technically demanding stages, incorporating multiple roof sections, structural timbers, steelwork and large VELUX openings. The brief was to create a reliable, weatherproof roof with a premium finish that complemented the property’s coastal setting and the overall design of the house. Why SIG Roofing The contractor wanted to work with a specialist roofing merchant that could provide the complete roofing system, reliable deliveries and knowledgeable technical support throughout the project. The SIGnature Henley Weathered clay tiles supplied by SIG Roofing, were selected for their handmade, kiln-fired construction, which creates natural variations in colour, texture and shape. This gave the finished roof the character and high-end appearance required while perfectly suiting the coastal setting. The SRT GOLD® graded timber roofing batten and Permavent breather membrane provided a reliable roof build-up required for a project of this scale. SIG Roofing’s product knowledge, stock availability and delivery service also helped keep the roof installation on track. Product Supplier The SIG Roofing branch in Southampton supplied all materials to site. Challenges The scale and complexity of the roof required careful coordination between the structural, carpentry and roofing teams. The installation also included a large VELUX CABRIO balcony system and several roof-window details. Singers Roofing Ltd stepped in at short notice to help weatherproof the building and keep the programme on track. Final completion was briefly delayed while we waited for the correct VELUX flashing kits, but SIG Roofing’s prompt deliveries ensured the remaining roofing materials were available when needed. Result The completed roof has delivered a durable, weatherproof finish with the premium appearance the project demanded. The natural colour and texture variation of the Henley Weathered tiles gives the property genuine character and suits its coastal location. “SIG Roofing’s support, combined with Singers Roofing Ltd’s workmanship, helped us to achieve one of the biggest milestones of The Big Build. The finished result looks outstanding and demonstrates the value of using a specialist roofing merchant from the initial roof structure through to the finished tiles,” said Sam Hughes, Founder of The Bald Builders. >> Read about more roofing projects in the news Previous article New COO at Wienerberger UK & Ireland AnnouncedNext article A Tested Mitigation Layer Cover Board Share article You may also like View all News Industry News +2 22 October 2026 New COO at Wienerberger UK & Ireland Announced Awards and Events +2 22 October 2026 Raise the Roof Roundtable Generates Energy, Honesty and Ambition Industry News +1 22 October 2026 Don’t Get Caught Out by Rogue Roofers After Storms, NFRC Warns Homeowners Check out the latest issue 126 September-October 2026 View Now Past Issues Get in Touch Sign Up to Roofing Today Stay up to date with all of the latest news from Roofing Today by signing up to our weekly Bulletins… Sign Up Today Get in Touch
