Average Pay for Roofers by Age and Region However, the 9.6% decrease is not the same across all age ranges of roofers or the same in geographical regions. Meanwhile, in the highest paid age group of 35-49-year-olds, a similar decrease was seen, from December 2024’s £985 to April 2025’s £915 per week. In the regions, for the under 25’s, the highest paying location was London, at £857, followed by the South West at £844. The lowest paying area was Yorkshire and the Humber, paying £498 per week, followed by the North West at £601 and South West at £629. For the highest paid age group of 35-49-year-olds in the regions, London leads again, paying an average of £1099 per week, followed by the South West at £1033. The lowest paying region for this age bracket is Wales at £592, followed by the North West at £784. The data for roofers comes as Hudson Contract released data for self-employed tradespeople across the industry. Industry Tradespeople Trend Despite an Easter dip, self-employed tradespeople earned an average of £999 per week during April, an increase of 5.5% compared with the same month last year. Despite this annual growth, their earnings fell by 6.5% month on month, reflecting time off during the Easter holidays and in keeping with annual trends. Commenting, Hudon Contract MD, Ian Anfield, said: “As time goes on, more homegrown tradespeople retire, long-term EU workers go home and can’t be replaced and skilled operatives who held CSCS cards under grandfather rights are banned from sites. All these factors push up demand and maintain rates for those who are still working.” Hudson Contract data and analysis is based on weekly payments to self-employed tradespeople made on behalf of thousands of construction SMEs. >> Read more about roofers’ pay in the news Previous article Company and Director Fined After Employee Injured in Rooflight FallNext article Entries Open for NFRC Scottish Roofing Awards 2025 Share article You may also like View all News Industry News +2 20 March 2026 RA Issues Revised Safety Guidance on Rooflight Covers Awards and Events +3 20 March 2026 The Great British Slate Off Returns for 2026 Green Roofs +3 20 March 2026 Swansea Joins Global Network of Biophilic Cities Featured Solutions +3 19 March 2026 Flush Fitting Rooflights by Clement Sign Up to Roofing Today Stay up to date with all of the latest news from Roofing Today by signing up to our weekly Bulletins… Sign Up Today Get in Touch Check out the latest issue 123 March-April 2026 View Now Past Issues Get in Touch
