UKCA product marking is used for goods imported from the EU or placed on the market in England, Wales and Scotland (UKNI covers goods in Northern Ireland). It covers most goods which previously required the CE marking. Chief Executive of the National Federation of Roofing Contractors (NFRC), James Talman, said: “At a time when we are facing some of the worst material availability and inflation in living memory, this announcement will come as a welcome relief for manufacturers and merchants. “We have been telling the government that the 1January 2022 deadline was not feasible for some time, with many products simply unable to receive certification by the deadline. I am glad that the message has now got through. This extra time will provide much-needed breathing space for suppliers to undertake the necessary tests and acquire the correct paperwork. “The government should now work with industry to ensure the supply chain is fully prepared for the new 2023 deadline, particularly smaller firms, so we do not face similar problems in the future” UKCA Marking UKCA marking officially came into effect on 1 January 2021. However, to allow businesses time to adjust CE marking remains acceptable – now until 1 January 2023. The British Board of Agrément (BBA) continues to accept existing reports, including data from EU Notified Bodies, as well as other accredited laboratories, for UKCA and UK European technical assessments (ETA), in addition to continuing to do so for BBA Certification. >>Read more about UKCA marking in the news Previous article Updated Guidance on Rooflight Non-Fragility ClassificationsNext article Virtual Event for Manufacturers to Help Ease Materials Supply Chain Share article You may also like View all News Industry News +1 28 August 2026 NFRC Welcomes Action on Rogue Traders but Reforms Must Work for Reputable Contractors Heritage Roofing +2 28 August 2026 Kington Market Hall Roof Gets Go Ahead for Replacement Industry News +2 28 August 2026 First Regional Solar Installations Breakdown as Records Broken Again Industry News +1 28 August 2026 Govt Clamps Down on Cowboy Builders with Approved Scheme Sign Up to Roofing Today Stay up to date with all of the latest news from Roofing Today by signing up to our weekly Bulletins… Sign Up Today Get in Touch Check out the latest issue 125 July-August 2026 View Now Past Issues Get in Touch
