Read the latest magazine Industry News Housebuilding Figures Show Sector is Bouyant 14 January 2021 NEW HOUSEBUILDING figures show the number of completed homes almost tripled in the three months to September 2020, compared to the previous quarter. Official statistics from the Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government show 45,000 homes were completed in July to September 2020, representing a 185% increase on the previous quarter. For new home starts, there were 35,710 new homes begun in July to September 2020 – a 111% increase when compared to the previous quarter. Housebuilding Figures Triple The figures reflect the decision to keep building sites open throughout the 2020 pandemic lockdowns. Housing Minister, Robert Jenrick, said: “We extended planning permission deadlines and flexible working hours on sites so that builders, architects and developers have been able to continue working, while following public health advice. “In turn this has protected millions of jobs, from builders, through to estate agents and carpenters.
