SFS Appoints Craig Smith in New OEM-Focused Role

Leading manufacturer of fasteners for the building envelope, SFS, has appointed a highly experienced Business Development Manager to provide roofing and cladding sector OEMs with a single point of contact to match their panel systems with the most suitable, best-performing fastening solutions.

Bringing to the role three decades of experience in the roofing and cladding industry, Craig Smith joins SFS from Saint-Gobain’s specialist insulation and dry lining distribution business where he was National Sales Manager. Prior to that, Craig’s career has included sales, account management, technical and specification roles with leading building envelope product manufacturers and a major Scottish fit-out and maintenance contractor.

Craig will further strengthen SFS’s relationships with OEMs, as well as build new partnerships, to help system manufacturers and installers provide clients with the highest quality building envelopes – assured with meaningful warranties of up to 40 years. By helping OEMs to access SFS’s new product development expertise and technical support, Craig will be instrumental in ensuring the right solution can be developed to meet the ever growing creativity and technical complexity that drives new panel designs.

Commenting on his new role, Craig says, “It’s a really exciting time to be joining SFS. It’s a company with a rich heritage, a trusted brand and a great reputation so it’s fantastic to be part of the team. I’ve worked with SFS from an OEM perspective for many years and I share the team’s passion for outstanding service, backed with valuable technical know-how, to deliver the best results for clients. I’m really looking forward to working closely with OEMs to add-value to their roofing and cladding systems in the pursuit of end-client satisfaction and more sustainable buildings.”

In addition to working closely with roofing and cladding industry OEMs, Craig will also focus on developing SFS’s market in fall protection under the SOTER brand through OEMs, plus its range of NVELOPE cladding and rainscreen support brackets which perfectly complement the SFS fastener range.

David Wigglesworth, the UK Managing Director at SFS adds, “We’re delighted that Craig has joined our team. His wealth of experience and deep understanding of why the fastener design must be correct to achieve the best result for the building envelope will potentially prove extremely valuable to our OEM customers.”
