CPA Supporting the Lighthouse Club Charity Summer Ball

The Lighthouse Club has lined up a whole host of events and challenges for their 60th year, to help fund their work within the Construction Industry, and one of the first in the calendar this summer is the Lighthouse Club Summer Ball which is taking place at the Honourable Artillery Company, in the heart of London, on Saturday 9th July 2016.

The Lighthouse Club Charity has now delivered 60 years of financial and welfare support to construction workers and their families.  Over the last six decades the Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity has granted over £15million to more than 14,500 families in the UK and Ireland.

The CPA (Construction Plant-hire Association) is also celebrating - its 75th anniversary this year - and in recognition of its history, the CPA will be offering up to five tables at the Ball at a discounted rate so that members can ‘join in’ the double anniversary festivities.

Hailed as ‘the Construction Industry’s most exclusive celebration’ this summer’ The Lighthouse Club Summer Ball will play host to 800 guests and the evening includes a champagne reception, a delicious three course evening meal, and wine and beer for the evening.  There’s also plenty of entertainment, which includes a ‘live band’, sponsored by CPA and Richard Jones the magician and mind reader from Britain’s Got Talent!  If that’s not enough to tempt you to support the charity, then there’s also a fun fair and much more!

Help Our Own
Bill Hill, CEO of the Lighthouse Club Charity said, “We are delighted to be hosting CPA’s 75th anniversary celebrations. Their long term support is very much appreciated and they are also supporting our 60th anniversary campaign, ‘One Day…to help our own’ by pledging to hold a Lighthouse Day event to raise further funds for the charity!”.

The Construction Industry continues to experience more than 30 fatalities each year and more than 2000 major accidents that incapacitate workers.  On top of that there are almost 70,000 cases of work-related illness and more than 45% of all occupational cancer cases in the UK have been directly related to working in construction.  We all have a duty to ensure we make this industry safer – but also to look after the families of those people who are suffering stress and hardship as a consequence of an injury, illness or bereavement.

The Lighthouse Club receives no public financial support, so the charity relies on you and their network of 21 independent, volunteer-led regional Lighthouse Clubs to fund their vital work.  By supporting the Summer Ball – you will be helping them continue to support the construction industry’s ‘own’.
